Professional actor/model Nnaemeka Onyeka has already established himself as a brand in Ghana, where in 2012 he was nominated for Model of the Year, and in Nigeria, his birthplace, where he got his start as a child actor. Now his vision is to establish an international brand by becoming a world-class international actor-model who can bring prestige and renown to local and global productions. His Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign has set an ambitious goal of raising $250,000USD to fulfill this plan to achieve success not only in the highly competitive field of fashion and entertainment, but also to become an inspiration to the younger generation by serving humanitarian causes.
For Nnaemeka, this has been a lifelong dream for a man who has always been self-motivated, spending six years funding his career and bringing it to its current stage of success. He views his success as a way to reach young people, who see his achievements as proof that even if a person has nothing, he or she should never give up.
Born in 1988 in Nigeria’s bustling city of Lagos to a middle class family, Nnaemeka began his acting career at the age of four with cultural dance and drama. As part of Tales by Moonlight, he acted along other talented youth who ultimately ended up at the National Television Authority where they showcased their talents. During his time at the National Theatre Satellite, he acted with Daddy Showkey, recognized as one of Nigeria’s most prolific musicians with an established profile in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
The Nnaemeka Onyeka business plan was created after years of study to find ways to improve his overall performance while making his career more profitable. On December 26, 2013, Nnaemeka Onyeka was formed as a proprietorship in Accra, Ghana, in response to these market conditions: celebrity branding; becoming a point of reference for other actors and models; and becoming a focal point for fashion and entertainment. His action items for the plan include signing contracts, increasing advertising, and establishing a relevant presence in the entertainment industry.
His internal branding is a blend of personal attributes and professional abilities. He will be working with Hollywood cosmetics expert Susan Cimenilli to develop a skin image that personifies a bankable star, letting his appearance set him apart. That won’t be difficult for the man who, in 2008, was chosen as Nigeria’s male representative in Africa’s Sexiest Male and Female Competition.
The entertainment industry looks before it listens, and that means that an artist who intends to survive in this field needs to display a high level of professionalism while showcasing his appearance. This will be achieved by enlisting the skilled assistance of first-rate photographers, designers, make-up artists, stylists, etc. He has scheduled a second photo shoot with fashion video coverage from Aunty Oboshie “Ob Abenser,” Ghana’s finest fashion blogger and critic. The video will highlight the events that took place on the day of the shot and will feature a candid interview with Nnaemeka Onyeka.
But becoming an international celebrity doesn’t mean selling out in order to become a celebrity. In fact, his advice to others emphasizes the importance of staying true to one’s own self: “Don’t change so people will like you. Be yourself and the right people will love you.”
